“No challenge, no change” also applies to (agile) teams
A couple of months ago I went to a gym to start recuperating. And there it was, written on a wall, in huge letters:
“If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you”
Right. And so I was reminded that if I really wanted to recover, I’d better get some serious work done. Muscles just won’t grow while stroking them gently.
It also made me think about the teams I coach. Marketing teams, development teams, management teams. And there it was, like a pattern ablaze: no challenge, no change.
Of course most of these teams certainly have their challenges. Alas, not all of them acknowledge of even recognize their challenges. And even if they get acknowledged, the work required to overcome them sometimes is just too much of a hassle.
And then everything stays the same. Nice and safe.
