Do this to make the most of your daily Scrum
Do you still have boring standups and meagre sprint results? Then try this during your daily Scrum.\r\n\r\nAs a team, pretend that by the end of the day your sprint will be terminated. Now its up to you and your team to deliver the most possible value before that happens. Together, figure out what to do and start doing it. Whatever you do, just make sure it gets done. Really done. As in potentially shippable done.\r\n\r\nIf you do manage to create a done, potentially shippable increment by the end of that day, your boring standups and meagre results may be symptoms of lack of focus and discipline. You and your team probably just need to keep woking on focus and discipline to get great results every single day.\r\n\r\nHowever, if you don’t get that increment done after a day of truly sweating, then please stop trying to be so busy and productive. Start working on improving your process and practices with some priority. You probably have major impediments. Address them. Fix them. Get good practices in place. Start experimenting until you can get something really done in a day. Even if it’s a small, insignificant thing.\r\n\r\nYes, it will be tough and scary. But you want to be agile, don’t you? Do you believe it’s worth trying then? Because if you don’t believe…why would anyone else around you?\r\n\r\nKeep believing. Keep doing and helping others do it. Keep experimenting. Keep failing and learning. Keep getting the tiniest successes. Crawl closer to done no matter the fear and the resistance.\r\n\r\nBecause if you stop doing that, your agile game is over.
